Homeschool Art Program: Foundations in Charcoal Drawing: 4-Week Art Program | 75-Min Classes | All Materials Included

$120.00

Ages 12–18 | Thursdays · 1:45–3:00 PM | Starts October 9 - October 16, 23, & 30th

A 4-week immersive drawing program designed specifically for homeschooled youth who are ready to deepen their skills and creativity. Using professional techniques, students will learn how to see like an artist, render realistic form, and explore the expressive power of charcoal.

Each week builds on the last — developing confidence with light, shadow, and proportion — and ends with a stunning large-scale 22×30” charcoal still life that students will take home, portfolio-ready.

🎨 What We’ll Cover:

Week 1: Drawing Foundations & Subtractive Technique

Learn proper posture, sketching basics, and the subtractive method. Students build forms using vine charcoal and erasers on toned paper.

Week 2: Mastering Value & Texture

Explore the full value range from light to dark using compressed charcoal and shading techniques like hatching, stumping, and graining.

Week 3: Composition & Mood

Compose dynamic still lifes using the Rule of Thirds, focal point planning, and storytelling through light and shadow.

Week 4: Final Project on 22×30 Paper

Create a complete, refined charcoal drawing using subtractive and additive techniques. Fixative is applied to preserve the final artwork.

🛠️ Supplies:

All specialty materials are included, including a large-format 22×30 drawing paper for the final. Students are encouraged to bring a pencil case with their own erasers and blending tools if they have them, but everything required will be provided.
